With researchers reporting more than 15,000 new species each year, it can be near impossible to keep up with all the wonderfully weird animals on Earth.
There are stalk-eyed flies that gulp in air bubbles, pumping them through ducts in their head and inflating their eye stalks—all in an attempt to impress the females. There are also rosy-lipped batfish that use their fins like legs in order to sneak up on prey without stirring the water and sand.
